Mandi, September 11: A decades-old police station located in Drang has now been shifted to Padhar. This move has forced the residents of nearly a dozen nearby panchayats to travel 25 to 30 kilometers for their minor legal matters. Upset by this, representatives of these panchayats sent a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Mandi today.

Shubham Sharma, the head of Gram Panchayat Tandu, Padam Singh, a member of the Panchayat Samiti, and Jaya Swaroop, the head of Gram Panchayat Pali, stated that Drang had an old police station for decades. However, it has now been shifted to Padhar. This has caused inconvenience to the people of the Drang region, and there is also a risk of lawlessness in the area.

They have requested the government to open a police chauki where the police station used to be in Drang so that the people of the region do not have to travel for their minor matters. They have made it clear that there is an ongoing signature campaign throughout the region regarding this demand, and if it is not fulfilled soon, the people will take to the streets to protest.

They have stated that the police department has its land in Drang, and opening a police chauki there should not be a big issue for the government.”
