Delegation of Industries Department visits Parwanoo industrial belt to assess the damages

Shimla, July 12 – A delegation of Industries Department led by Director Industries, Rakesh Prajapati visited Industrial Areas, Sector 5 and Kamli-Khadeem, to evaluate the extent of the damage caused by the rains and floods in these industrial belts.

He had a detailed discussion with the representatives of the Industrial Association and the factory owners and said that Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan has directed the department for the assessment of damages in the industrial area and timely intervention to ensure the restoration of industrial activities.

President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Himachal Chapter, Gagan Kapoor expressed his gratitude to the State Government for prompt action by sending a team for ground assessment. He requested immediate intervention for restoring road connectivity to Industrial Area Kamli else the factories will have to be shut down for want of raw materials and transportation of finished goods. He also expressed concern about the disruption  of water supply which has been badly hampered.

President of Parwanoo Industries Association (PIA) Sunil Taneja along with Executive Members of PIA, accompanied the delegation to the HIMUDA Industrial Area Sector 5, Parwanoo. The channelization of nallah between sector 4 & 5, Parwanoo needs to be done along with making few critical points for smooth flow of the course of water in the Nallah.

During the inspection of the industrial area, it was found that due to the torrential rains the nallah was flooded and damaged the internal roads of the industrial belts. The debris that came along with flood water had entered the premises of the factories. Many vehicles were washed away by the heavy current and movement of heavy vehicles have been stopped on small bridges. Sh. Prajapati assured of immediate relief and directed the SWCA officers to engage JCBs and tippers for clearing the road and told them to prepare an assessment of the losses and cost of restoration and repair. He also assured the industries that the State Government will provide support and asked the industries to submit the damage assessment report.

Additional Director Tilak Raj Sharma and officers from the SWCA, Parwanoo and PWD officials besides members of Industrial Association were also present on the occasion.
