Debate Sparks Ideas at JUIT’s Hindi Diwas Celebration

Solan, September 20, 2025: Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, marked Hindi Diwas with great enthusiasm as the Literary and Debating Club of JYC organized its annual debate competition “तर्क संग्राम”. The event, held at CR-3 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, was inaugurated by Dean Academics Prof. Ashok Kumar Gupta and Registrar Brig. (Retd) R. K. Sharma, in the presence of Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh, Media In-charge, Dr. Amit Jakhar, JYC Faculty In-charge, HoDs, faculty, staff, and students.
The motion of the debate — “क्या हिंदी की अनिवार्यता भारत के विविधतापूर्ण स्वरूप के खिलाफ है?” — inspired powerful arguments from both sides. A total of 20 shortlisted students participated, with 12 speaking in favour and 10 against the motion. Each speaker was allotted three minutes, followed by interactive questioning, ensuring lively yet disciplined discussions.
The debate witnessed engaging perspectives that highlighted India’s linguistic richness while fostering critical thinking and respect for diversity. Winners in both categories were honoured with prizes, mementoes, and certificates.
The event successfully combined the celebration of Hindi Diwas with intellectual dialogue, encouraging students to embrace India’s cultural plurality while strengthening their command over Hindi.
