DC Shimla Takes Stock of Preventive Measures After Landslide on Mehl-Junga Road
1 min readShimla, February 6 – The Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, swiftly took action upon receiving information about the landslide incident on Mehl-Junga Road. The incident, which occurred late at night, resulted in the unfortunate demise of two laborers. The shanties collapsed, trapping the victims under debris. A timely rescue operation lasting an hour was conducted by the police, fire department, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Home Guard, successfully recovering the bodies of the deceased.
The victims have been identified as Rakesh (34 years old) and Rajesh Kumar (36 years old), both hailing from Bihar. The bodies have been sent to IGMC Shimla for post-mortem examination. Additionally, the injured individuals, namely Rahul Kumar (18 years old), Megh Sahani (42 years old), Bajnath Ram (35 years old), Ashok Ram (45 years old) from Bihar, and Tony Kumar (20 years old) from Chamba, have also been provided interim relief by the district administration.
Deputy Commissioner Kashyap visited the rescued laborers, discussing the unfortunate incident with them. He expressed gratitude for the concerted efforts of the police, SDRF, fire department, and Home Guard in efficiently executing the rescue operations.
