DC Shimla Orders Regular BDO Visits to Child Care Institutions for Enhanced Welfare
1 min readShimla, July 16, 2024 – Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, in a District Child Welfare and Protection Committee meeting, directed all Block Development Officers (BDOs) to regularly visit childcare institutions in their areas. This initiative aims to ensure proper counseling for the children and identify and address real issues. The DC also emphasized the need for construction and repair work in some institutions to improve living conditions.
Competitions and Development Initiatives
The DC instructed the District Program Officer to organize monthly competitions for children in these institutions to foster a competitive spirit and holistic development. Information about employment fairs will also be provided to the youth to enhance their job prospects.
Interaction with Meritorious Students
A meeting will be organized with meritorious students from these institutions, attended by the DC and SP Shimla, to encourage and motivate the children towards academic excellence and personal growth.
Admissions in Convent Schools
Eight children from Shishu Grih were admitted to convent schools under the economically weaker section quota. The DC directed that vacant seats under this quota should be filled in the next session to provide better educational opportunities for these children.
Aftercare Scheme Benefits
Twenty-three children have benefited from the aftercare scheme, receiving financial support under various programs to aid their development. The DC assured that all issues faced by child care institutions would be addressed promptly to ensure the well-being of the children.
