DC Hamirpur Holds Meeting to Establish Modern De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre

Hamirpur, May 31, 2025: Taking serious note of the rising issue of substance abuse, Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh convened a meeting on Saturday with officials from the administration, health department, social justice and empowerment department, and the District Red Cross Society to discuss the establishment of a modern de-addiction, treatment, and rehabilitation centre in Hamirpur.
The DC informed that a proposal is in place to set up an advanced de-addiction facility in the district to provide treatment and rehabilitation for individuals struggling with substance abuse. He highlighted that similar centres are already operational in Kullu district for both men and women, equipped with all necessary medical and support services. He directed concerned officials to initiate appropriate steps for setting up such a centre in Hamirpur and study the existing model in Kullu.
He added that a piece of land near the upcoming Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College campus in Jol Sappar has been identified for the proposed centre. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials to begin the process for land transfer. Other relevant aspects related to the proposed de-addiction centre were also discussed during the meeting.
