DC Anupam Kashyap Unveils “Himachali Lok Natya” Book

Shimla, September 23, 2024: District Commissioner Anupam Kashyap today inaugurated the book “Himachali Lok Natya,” authored by Dr. Monika Shandil. During the event, he praised Himachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage and diversity, noting that folk dramas reflect the region’s social fabric and religious beliefs. He emphasized the importance of literature in preserving and promoting state culture.

Dr. Shandil’s book details the significance of local temples, deities, folk arts, and festivals in Himachal Pradesh, along with comprehensive insights into folk performances like Bhagat Banthda, Dhaja, and Karyala. An avid photographer and holder of a Ph.D. in Journalism, she previously published “Karyala.”

ADM Jyoti Rana and Surjit Kaur also attended the event.
