DC Anupam Kashyap Calls for Strong Action Against Drug Abuse

Shimla, February 25, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap chaired the district-level monthly ENCORD meeting via video conferencing, emphasising coordinated efforts to curb drug abuse through social awareness and strict legal action. He said the committee plays a key role in monitoring drug trafficking, strengthening rehabilitation facilities, and promoting awareness programmes in schools and colleges. Officials were directed to ensure formation of committees in remaining areas and continue anti-drug initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders. SSP Gaurav Singh highlighted ongoing police action against drug networks and stressed monitoring of assets linked to drug traffickers while urging the health department to reduce overdose-related deaths.
