Shimla, Feb 25 : Cybercriminals are using new tactics to dupe people, even impersonating top officials. A fraudulent post circulating on social media shows a conversation from Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s Facebook Messenger, where scammers request ₹20,000 via Google Pay. Police are investigating whether the CM’s page was hacked or if a fake account was created.
In the conversation, the scammer greets the victim and claims that a friend is returning ₹20,000 but due to a bank issue, they need the money transferred to another account. Similar fraud attempts have targeted ministers, MLAs, and officials before. Authorities have urged people to stay vigilant against such scams.
