Shimla, December 26 – The second day of the Shimla Winter Carnival, held from 2 PM to 5 PM on December 26, 2023, witnessed captivating performances by cultural troupes from the districts of Una, Kinnaur, Sirmaur, and Mandi, along with the energetic Bhangra and Kalbelia dance by the NJDCS Patiala.

The enchanting Sufi melodies echoed through the Gaiety Theater as the Jhanakar Group from Kashmir organized a soulful Sufiyana Mehfil, featuring the renowned Sufi vocalist Shafi Sopori. The Army Band, stationed near the Police Control Room, added to the festive spirit with their musical renditions, while the Rotary Club hosted an engaging Tambola event that attracted a substantial crowd.

Despite the cultural extravaganza, one of the highlights of the day was the fervent shopping spree by visitors at nearly 50 stalls set up by various departments, self-help groups, organizations, and businesses as part of the Winter Carnival. The stalls, adorned with traditional garments and organic products, witnessed a substantial influx of eager buyers, both locals and tourists alike.

Adding a touch of humor and charm to the carnival, an artist dressed as a langur became a magnet for visitors’ attention. The langur, not only surprising onlookers but also engaging in playful antics, particularly drew the interest of the youth who were keen on capturing selfies with this entertaining character.

The vibrant atmosphere and diverse cultural offerings continue to make the Shimla Winter Carnival a resounding success, attracting people from various walks of life. The blend of traditional performances, shopping delights, and amusing encounters, such as the langur’s antics, ensures that the carnival remains a memorable and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
