CU Dehra Campus to Be Ready by December 2025, Says Anurag

New Delhi/Shimla, July 22, 2025 — Former Union Minister and MP from Hamirpur, Anurag Singh Thakur, held a review meeting with CPWD officials at his Delhi residence to assess the progress of the Central University (CU) campus under construction at Dehra, Himachal Pradesh. He criticized the state government for its indifference, stating that delay in land clearance, forest approvals, and lack of basic amenities like electricity and water are hampering student welfare.

Thakur emphasized that despite the Modi government’s commitment—raising the project budget from ₹250 crore to ₹500 crore—the CU still operates from a rented temporary campus even 16 years after its approval. He urged the state government to resolve all pending issues without delay. Thakur assured that the construction will be completed by December 2025, transforming Dehra into a major educational hub and opening up job and self-employment opportunities.
