Cottonian Champions Conquer Shimla’s Steep Slopes in Marathon Victory

Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, emerges triumphant as young Cottonians showcase their endurance and determination in the annual marathon race. The spirited event, held on April 13th, 2024, witnessed hundreds of enthusiastic participants, including boys as young as Class 4, who trained rigorously for six weeks under the guidance of their sports coaches.

The race, featuring different age categories, commenced from various points across Shimla, with runners navigating the city’s challenging terrain before converging at the school amidst thunderous cheers from the crowd.

The winners of each category demonstrated exceptional prowess:

– Under 10: Vedansh Bharti
– Under 12: Irfaan Hyder
– Under 14: Shefaa Prajwan
– Under 16: Arnav Dhanyan
– The Open & 2024 Victor Champion: Sarthak Khandewal, who clocked an impressive time of 30 minutes and 12 seconds.

BCS Director, Simon Weale, commended the boys for their outstanding performance, highlighting the values instilled through such rigorous training. He emphasized that the school’s traditions focus on fostering success through hard work, discipline, and a commitment to a healthy lifestyle, thereby shaping character and preparing students for life’s challenges.
