Controversy Arises Over Posting of Accused Police Officer in the Suraj Murder Case: Retired DGP Vinod Dhawan Urges DGP Sanjay Kundu for Reconsideration

Shimla, July 30: A heated controversy has emerged over the posting of an accused police officer to a crucial position in connection with the Gudiya case, the Suraj murder incident. Retired Deputy General of Police (DGP), Vinod Dhawan, has written a lengthy letter to DGP Sanjay Kundu, urging him to remove the officer from an important position to ensure an unbiased investigation of the case. It is noteworthy that Vinod Dhawan had previously served as the supervising officer in the Yugg murder case as well.

Vinod Dhawan’s plea comes as he believes that the accused officer can potentially influence the investigation, and thus, he should not be assigned to such a significant role. He has also raised concerns about the undue pressure faced by subordinate officers earlier who were involved in the case. Furthermore, attempts are being made to harass officers related to the case through the Right to Information (RTI) mechanism.

Prior to the Gudiya case, the accused police officer has been under suspicion in several other cases too. Complaints regarding his questionable role have been previously registered. The effort to bring scrutiny to officers associated with the case through the RTI route is also ongoing.

Apart from this, there have been doubts raised about the accused police officer’s involvement in several other cases. Vinod Dhawan has urged the DGP to bring this entire matter to the attention of the Chief Minister.

However, when contacted, DGP Sanjay Kundu did not provide any comments on the matter. The situation remains tense as the controversy continues to unfold. The call for an impartial investigation into the Suraj murder case and the posting of accused officers to key positions has become a matter of public concern.
