1 min readNahan, August 27: A case in the assembly constituency has been under discussion for nearly 48 hours. According to reports, a former Congress councilor has initiated violence in response to the ban on illegal mining. Hard disks with CCTV footage have also been removed from the scene. In this matter, a complaint has also been registered from the side of the former Congress councilor. The police have registered cross-cases. Following the entire incident, the question arises whether illegal mining is taking place in the Markanda River. If it is happening, then who is responsible for it.
Insiders reveal that the controversy is indeed linked to illegal mining. It is worth mentioning that a delegation met the Police Superintendent on Saturday, filing a complaint that the former Congress councilor is engaging in violence. Allegations of brandishing a pistol during the altercation have also been made against the former councilor.
On the other hand, the opposing side has accused the other party of using caste-sensitive terms. The question also arises that although illegal mining from the Markanda River to Kolar has been ongoing for a long time, what has led to the situation where this incident has now reached the attention of the police.
