Continued Train Disruptions in Una District Amid Farmer Protests
2 min readTrain services scheduled to arrive in Una district continued to be disrupted for the second consecutive day due to ongoing farmer protests. Five trains originating from Daulatpur Chowk, Amb Andaura, and Una railway stations were canceled. Only three trains managed to run on the tracks. Passengers at Una railway station were seen inquiring about the canceled train services. Similarly, three major trains departing from Una were canceled yesterday as well.
According to railway officials, trains scheduled to arrive via Rajpura and Saharanpur are being canceled due to the farmer protests. Among the canceled trains is the daily Jan Shatabdi Express from New Delhi, which departs at 2:35 PM and reaches Una railway station at 9:17 PM via Ambala Cantt. Similarly, the Himachal Express and three passenger trains originating from New Delhi were canceled on Friday night.
The train to Old Delhi from Una, which normally arrives in Delhi at 5 AM, was also canceled. Likewise, the passenger train from Una to Haridwar, numbered 04501-02, was canceled. This train departs Una at 2:10 AM, reaches Ambala at 5:40 AM, Saharanpur at 7:20 AM, and finally Haridwar at 9 PM. Its return journey, train number 04501, departs Haridwar at 4:30 PM and reaches Una at 12:30 PM.
Two other passenger trains, which run daily from Amb Andaura to Ambala, were also canceled on Friday. The cancellation of these trains forced passengers to seek alternative transportation. Doubts persist regarding the operation of these trains on Saturday as well. Five trains, including the Jan Shatabdi Express and Himachal Express, were canceled on Friday.
