Shimla, July 30, 2025 –
In a major development following the collapse of a multi-storey building in Bhattakuffar, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has ordered the four-lane highway construction company, operating under NHAI, to pay ₹5.61 crore as compensation to the affected family without delay.
The incident occurred on June 30, 2025, when the building owned by Shreya, Shaurya, and Ranjana in Mathu Colony collapsed due to a landslide triggered by hill-cutting for road construction. A fact-finding committee, chaired by ADM (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma, was formed on July 4. The committee submitted its report on July 18, valuing the damage at ₹2.80 crore, including ₹57.40 lakh for land and ₹1.65 crore for structural loss. An additional ₹58.38 lakh was estimated for other damages.
The report clearly attributes the damage to hill-cutting activities for the four-lane project. Recognizing the hardship caused to the family, the DC has directed prompt disbursal of compensation as per Section 30 of the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, ensuring 100% compensation norms are followed.
This swift response underscores the administration’s commitment to justice, transparency, and timely rehabilitation of affected citizens.
