Shimla, January 17:
A state-level event under the Constitution Pride Campaign was held at Peterhof, where Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh addressed the gathering as the chief guest. The event also featured Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal, MP Dr. Sikandar Kumar, and BJP State General Secretary Siddharthan.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh criticized Congress, alleging that it had consistently sidelined Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s contributions for political gains. “Congress, which neglected Dr. Ambedkar and his principles for decades, now pretends to champion his legacy for vote-bank politics,” he stated. Singh accused Congress of distorting BJP leaders’ statements to mislead the public and sow division.
BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal highlighted Congress’s alleged misuse of the Constitution for power. He stated, “While Dr. Ambedkar and his team gave us a strong Constitution, Congress amended it over 100 times to serve its political agenda.” Bindal further criticized Congress for exploiting caste and religion-based politics.
Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur praised Dr. Ambedkar for his efforts in empowering Dalits and emphasized his opposition to Congress’s policies, particularly on the Kashmir issue. Thakur said, “Dr. Ambedkar warned that Congress’s Kashmir policy would lead to future challenges, but his advice was ignored.”
The event concluded with discussions on preserving constitutional values and spreading awareness about its inclusive spirit.
