Congress’s ATM Exposed: Anurag Thakur Slams Gandhi Family

2 min read

April 17, 2025 – Himachal Pradesh: Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament from Hamirpur, Anurag Singh Thakur, launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during a local event in Sarahan, Sirmaur. Addressing a press conference, Thakur alleged that Congress had turned the National Herald into its personal ATM and was now crying foul over being exposed.

Thakur stated, “Congress has made the National Herald its ATM and is now playing the victim card. From Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, the party has treated *National Herald* as their personal treasure chest. Despite having no relevance to Himachal Pradesh, the Congress-led state government handed crores in advertisement funds to a weekly newspaper, while ignoring the needs of local dailies.”

He further questioned the motives behind such financial backing: “The National Herald’s vast properties have become a target of greed. Himachal’s Congress government is willingly feeding this ATM. While most newspapers are published on paper, this one seems to be published only in balance sheets. Who is pocketing the money under the guise of advertisements? Rahul and Sonia Gandhi must answer.”

Referring to the ongoing ED probe, Thakur said, “Why does the Gandhi family believe they are above the law? The National Herald case is a prime example of how thousands of crores worth of assets were allegedly siphoned off. The ED has named top Congress leaders, including Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, in its chargesheet. Even Priyanka Gandhi’s husband, Robert Vadra, is being probed in the Shikohpur land scam in Gurugram. The Congress high command’s hands are stained with scams.”

He added that the Enforcement Directorate has issued notices to seize assets worth ₹661 crore and had already attached ₹90.2 crore worth of AJL shares in November 2023 to prevent tampering.
