“Congress Govt Failed on Every Front, Trapped in Contradictions”: Jai Ram Thakur

Shimla, Jan 13, 2026: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur launched a sharp attack on the Himachal Pradesh Congress government, calling it failed, directionless and internally divided. He said ministers are contradicting each other in public, showing that the leadership is more focused on internal politics than public welfare.

Thakur expressed concern over the state’s financial condition, alleging that debt has increased sharply in the last three years, while development work on the ground has come to a halt. He also targeted the government over recent tragedies like the Haripurdhar bus accident and Arki cylinder blast, blaming administrative negligence and weak disaster management.

Calling the Chief Minister’s response insensitive, he said the government has reduced itself to formal statements instead of accountability and action.

Later, Jai Ram Thakur celebrated Lohri at his official residence Grant Lodge-12, Shimla, where party workers and locals participated in traditional rituals. He greeted the people of Himachal and described Lohri as a festival of nature, hard work and unity.
