Congress’ Financial Mismanagement Plunges Himachal into Crisis: Chetan Bragta
1 min readShimla, December 4: BJP spokesperson Chetan Bragta has accused the Congress government of pushing Himachal Pradesh into a severe financial crisis due to its mismanagement and negligence. Bragta pointed out that the state exhausted its borrowing limit of ₹6,200 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25 within just nine months (April to December 2024), and the government has already started seeking additional loans for the final quarter.
He highlighted the dire situation where the government requires ₹2,000 crore monthly for salaries and pensions. Although government employees received their salaries, retired employees are yet to receive their pensions, reflecting the state’s financial instability and the government’s insensitivity towards pensioners.
Bragta criticized the government’s reliance on debt rather than generating revenue through key sectors such as tourism, industry, and horticulture. He condemned Chief Minister’s recent statement that delays in salary and pension payments were intended to save on interest, calling it an attempt to mask the government’s economic mismanagement.
He further lambasted the Congress government for celebrating two years in power while the state suffers, accusing it of setting the state back by 20 years due to poor governance. Bragta urged the government to adopt responsible economic policies and take concrete steps to rescue the state from its current financial crisis.
