Shimla, April 5th: Rajneesh Kimta, the General Secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee, has confidently declared that the Congress will wave its victory flag not only in all four Lok Sabha seats but also in the six Assembly by-elections of the state. He claimed that after the election results on June 4th, the Congress government in the state will emerge even stronger. According to him, the Congress government holds a comfortable majority, and there is no political threat to its stability.
Addressing a press conference at the Pradesh Congress headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan, Kimta asserted that internal discord and rebellion have arisen within the BJP. He stated that the by-elections in the state are not between the Congress and the BJP but are being contested with rebel Congress legislators, who are bound to face a decisive defeat. He accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize the Congress government in the state through a political conspiracy, and they will pay the price for it.
Kimta mentioned that the BJP has disrespected the democracy and insulted the people of the state by imposing six by-elections upon them. He assured that the Congress has completed all its electoral preparations, with party leaders and workers fully engaged in the campaign. The party has reached a consensus on the selection of candidates, and their names will be announced soon.
Responding to a question, Kimta stated that the return of rebels to the party fold would be based on merit and fault. He further clarified that the by-elections on all Congress party seats have been agreed upon, and their announcement will follow the finalization of candidates by the Central Election Committee.
Kimta also raised questions about the nomination of BJP candidate Kangana from the Mandi parliamentary constituency, asking whether her name was proposed by the Pradesh BJP executive. He criticized Kangana for never considering Himachal Pradesh her home and cited her tweets from 2021 indicating her disinterest in contesting elections from small states like Himachal. He reiterated confidence in winning the Mandi parliamentary constituency.
Furthermore, Kimta criticized BJP MP Suresh Kashyap, accusing him of neglecting the people during his five-year tenure and failing to address development issues in the upper regions of Shimla. He stated that Kashyap has been an unsuccessful parliamentarian and has not protected the interests of the people. Kimta assured that the Congress would field strong candidates on all Lok Sabha seats, securing victories across the board.
In conclusion, Kimta emphasized the strong coordination between the organization and the government in the state. He highlighted the achievements of the Congress government in fulfilling its electoral promises, including reinstating the old pension scheme for employees and ensuring a guaranteed income of Rs. 1500 for women. He expressed confidence in Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukkhu’s leadership to fulfill all electoral guarantees.
