Congress Candidate Vikramaditya Singh Predicts BJP’s Slogans to Fall Short in Mandi Constituency

3 min read

Karsog, May 24, 2024 – Congress candidate and former Minister for Rural Development Vikramaditya Singh confidently declared that the BJP’s slogan of crossing 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections would fall short, indicating a shift in the political winds. Singh asserted that India is poised to witness the formation of a government led by the India Alliance, with Congress set to secure impressive victories on all four Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Addressing election rallies in the Karsoog Assembly constituency, including Kaav, Thakurthana, Churag, and Pangana, Singh criticized the BJP’s tendency to accuse opposition leaders of corruption while portraying its own leaders as paragons of honesty when they join the party. He likened the BJP to a washing machine that cleanses all sins, implying that the party uses investigative agencies to suppress dissent but would now struggle to silence the opposition as its departure from power is imminent.

Singh confidently stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would fail to ensure victory for his candidate in Mandi. He criticized the BJP for fielding a candidate with no knowledge of the history or issues facing the region, making her unacceptable to the electorate. He also condemned the disrespectful language used by the BJP candidate against her own party leaders, stating that such behavior is unacceptable.

Regarding disaster relief, Singh accused the Prime Minister of neglecting the state by not providing any special economic assistance during times of crisis. He claimed that the funds received from the central government are allocated to all states annually for disaster management, and Himachal Pradesh did not receive any additional support despite suffering losses of over 12,000 crores. Singh accused the Prime Minister of misleading the public regarding disaster relief efforts.

Singh promised to prioritize the development of Mandi by constructing a national highway connecting Shimla, Tattapani, Karsoog, and Mandi, as well as establishing cold storage facilities in Karsoog. He emphasized his commitment to uplifting all sections of society and preserving the cultural heritage of the region. Singh also pledged to increase the import duty on foreign apples to protect the interests of local apple growers.

In a bid to secure overwhelming support from the people, Singh urged voters to choose him as their representative to transform the Mandi constituency into the best in the country, contrasting the BJP candidate’s lack of vision for the region. He criticized the BJP for engaging in diversionary tactics and expressed doubt whether the BJP candidate, Kangana Ranaut, even knows the names of the 17 Assembly segments in the constituency. He dismissed her statements as scripted by former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and predicted her return to the film industry after losing the elections on June 4.

Meanwhile, Rajesh Lalotia, National President of the Scheduled Caste Department of the All India Congress Committee, predicted that Singh’s resounding victory in the Mandi parliamentary seat was likely, drawing attention from across the country. Lalotia accused the Prime Minister of deceiving people with false promises wherever he goes and stressed the urgency of saving the country’s constitution. He congratulated the people of the region in advance for Singh’s anticipated victory.
