Hamirpur, August 23, 2025 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur launched a sharp attack on the Sukhu-led Congress government, accusing it of betraying the youth and employees of Himachal Pradesh. Thakur said that before the Assembly elections, Congress leaders made tall promises, including a *10-year assured government job*, ₹1500 monthly allowance for women, one lakh jobs in the first Cabinet and five lakh jobs in five years, higher milk prices, startup funds, fair rates for horticulturists, and improved health facilities.
“After coming to power, the Sukhu government systematically shut down the 10-year job policy and abandoned all guarantees. Congress has become a master of vote theft, forming its government in Himachal Pradesh by deceiving people with false promises,” Thakur alleged.
He further said that the present government has only pushed the state deeper into debt during its two-and-a-half-year tenure and failed to present any roadmap for Himachal’s development. Calling the Sukhu government “a regime built on lies and deceit,” Thakur added that the people’s mandate was stolen and the state’s progress has been stalled.
During his Hamirpur tour, Thakur also met senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal along with BJP Sangathan Mantri Siddharthan.
