Shimla, June 7: Kuldeep Singh Rathore, spokesperson of the All India Congress Committee and Congress MLA from Theog, has stated that the voters of India have rejected Narendra Modi and given a mandate against the authoritarian policies of the BJP. Rathore highlighted that the BJP failed to secure an absolute majority in the recent elections despite their aggressive campaign.
He remarked that the BJP’s slogan of “400 plus” was an unsuccessful attempt to create an atmosphere of fear within the country. However, the voters responded decisively against the BJP’s tactics through their votes. Rathore emphasized that the electorate has endorsed the policies and vision of the Congress party and the INDIA alliance, which has emerged stronger from these elections. According to Rathore, the public has voted against the communal ideology of the BJP.
Rathore asserted that it is time for former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi to take on a larger role. He praised Gandhi for his efforts in connecting with people across the country through the Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which strengthened the party by gaining support from various sections of society. This effort resulted in the INDIA alliance making a significant mark in Parliament, delivering a strong rebuttal to the BJP’s authoritarian and oppressive policies. Rathore also noted that internal conflicts over government formation have already started within the NDA, indicating that the coalition may not last long.
Additionally, Rathore criticized the BJP for politicizing Lord Ram, noting that even Ayodhya, a significant symbol for the BJP, rejected them. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity has waned, even in his own constituency of Varanasi, where his vote count decreased. In contrast, Rahul Gandhi received record-breaking votes in Wayanad and Rae Bareli, underscoring the differing levels of popularity between the leaders.
Rathore further stated that there were concerted efforts to weaken opposition parties during the election, with several leaders being imprisoned and agencies like the ED and CBI creating an atmosphere of fear. Despite the lack of resources and the sealing of Congress party accounts, the public stood by the Congress, showcasing their support for the party in these challenging circumstances.
