Shimla, Oct 10 – CPI(M) candidate and Himachal Pradesh Kissan Sabha president Kuldeep Singh blamed Congress and BJP for dividing people of Kasumpti into two princely states to cover up the lack of development under their rule.
Despite being nearest to the state capital here, Tanwar rued the Kasumpti assembly seat’s backwardness, as he addressed a press conference here on Monday.
The condition of education is such that there are no teachers in the schools, he said. “Many school buildings are in dilapidated condition. There is no staff in the school for more than 15 years, he said.
There is a shortage of language and physical education teachers. No School could offer education to students in science and commerce subjects. To study these subjects, students have to go to the neighboring district of Solan or 20-25 km moreover no buses are available for them, he alleged.
He blamed both parties for being equally responsible for the lack of development of the Kasumpti assembly constituency.
Congress is leading in this area for the last 20 years and BJP has also formed government in the state twice but neither the rural area of Kasumpti developed nor did the parties do anything for its urbanization, he said.
The CPI(M) candidate said the state of education, health, road and transport in 36 panchayats of Assembly segment was worse than many inaccessible panchayats in the state.
Roads — the lifeline of any area — deteriorate every rainy season and winter, he said, adding that it was people themselves who maintain rain-affected roads every year by investing their own money.
“There have been forest violations in about 300 roads in the area, in which no government vehicle could run and neither is the PWD department able to maintain them,” Tanwar said.
Comparing with the nearest Theog assembly constituency, Kissan Sabha’s leader said during this tenure of CPI(M) MLA Rakesh Singha gave environment clearance to as many as 173 roads, but only 20 percent were in the rural roads.
“Due to lack of roads, the public are not getting bus facilities in Kasumpti assembly constituency. There are no buses available for children to go to school and college, Tanwar said.
He said both BJP and the Congress leaders were available only during election campaign confined to political rallies. He said candidates of both parties arrange buses to the people for their rallies, but at other times there is no bus connectivity in the area as roads were unfit to ply the public transport.
Tanwar said the area of Kasumpti would probably be the area where maximum number of bus routes have been closed after Covid.
Tanwar said health services too are in a dilapidated condition. He found recently, that no test facilities and staff was available in the the Civil Hospital Junga and Community Health Center Koti.
Tanwar showed concern that currently Kasumpti was facing severe outbreak of Lumpy Skin disease among animals, many milching animals have died due to poor Veterinary Services. The death of milching animals not only affected livelihood but livestock too.
Farmers have suffered losses to the tune of thousands or lakhs of rupees, he alleged, adding that instead of helping the cattle rearers, the Congress and BJP leaders replied bluntly that their work is not to go to people’s cowshed.
Four-lane affected people of six panchayats of Kasumpti have been demanding four times compensation under factor 2 of the government, but the government has not paid any heed to their demands, he said.
