1 min read

A comprehensive anti-drug campaign will be launched in Shimla district within the next month, as announced by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap during a district-level Narco Coordination Center meeting. The campaign aims to combat rising drug abuse among the youth by increasing public involvement and vigilance. Residents are urged to report drug-related activities to the police. Over the past 15 months, police have arrested more than 1,000 individuals and registered around 600 cases, primarily involving synthetic drugs like heroin. The police will maintain confidentiality of informants and emphasize the importance of monitoring and treating drug users. Discussions also covered intelligence sharing, monitoring illegal cultivation of poppy and cannabis, and improving anti-drug awareness in schools and colleges.
