1 min readBilaspur, September 7: In a significant development concerning strategic and tourism perspectives, the Bharnupalli-Bilaspur-Bari railway line construction work is progressing at a rapid pace. However, there has been a serious lapse by one of the contract companies involved in railway line construction.
During the railway construction process, it has been observed that the entire debris has been dumped into the Govind Sagar Lake, disregarding NGT (National Green Tribunal) regulations. Following this, the Pollution Control Board officials in Bilaspur issued a notice to the concerned contract company, assuring them that they needed to remove the debris. However, as of now, the debris has not been removed.
Pollution Control Board officials have reported and recommended a fine of INR 29,25,000 based on field reports and the formula provided by NGT. Atul Paramar, the Environmental Engineer in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board, stated that as per the NGT orders, disposing of soil and debris into Govind Sagar Lake or its shores after government or private construction activities is entirely wrong. He emphasized that such actions should be taken against the railway line construction contractor company.
