He said that it is a legal offense to make children below the age of 14 years work in any business establishment, underground mines, places with inflammable and explosive substances and many other similar dangerous businesses etc. As per the rules, strict action is taken against those who do this. He said that it is a legal offense to employ children below 14 years of age on paid or unpaid basis in tea stalls, Dhabas, hotels, roadside eateries and various other businesses and homes.
He said that it is legally prohibited to make juvenile workers whose age is between 14 and 18 years work in dangerous and hazardous occupations and processes. He said that juvenile workers should not be made to work after 07.00 pm and before 08.00 am. They cannot be made to work. He said that children of this age group cannot be made to work in 38 types of dangerous jobs.
He urged everyone to regularly monitor child labourers and ensure that they are reported immediately to the District Labour Officer and the police.
