CM Vows to Reclaim Rights Over Shanan Project

Shimla, Aug 01, 2024 — Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu presided over a high-level meeting today, focusing on the ongoing legal battle regarding the 110-MW Shanan Hydel Project in Jogindernagar, Mandi district. The Chief Minister emphasized the state’s determination to reclaim its rights over the project, which was leased to the Punjab Government for 99 years in 1925. With the lease period ending on March 2, 2024, the CM stressed that Punjab must now transfer the project back to Himachal Pradesh. The state government is preparing a robust case to ensure the benefits of the project are redirected to the people of Himachal Pradesh.
