Una, April 10: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will lay the foundation stone of ₹250 crore site development and infrastructure works for the Bulk Drug Park project in Haroli on April 11.

The foundation ceremony will take place at Polian in Haroli subdivision. The Chief Minister will also lay the foundation of an ₹8 crore Working Women’s Hostel at Panjuaana. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and Industry Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan will be present on the occasion.

Later, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the four-day state-level Haroli Utsav 2026.

The Bulk Drug Park, being developed over 1405 acres with an estimated investment of ₹2000 crore, is a project of national importance aimed at boosting India’s self-reliance in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). The initiative is expected to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen the country’s pharmaceutical sector.

Notably, only three Bulk Drug Parks are being established across India, with one coming up in Haroli, Himachal Pradesh. The project is expected to generate around 15,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The state and central governments are jointly investing ₹1000 crore each in the project. Supporting infrastructure, including drinking water schemes worth ₹66 crore, has already been completed, while a proposed ₹3400 crore railway line and ₹500 crore road upgradation plan will further enhance connectivity and logistics.

Officials stated that all environmental norms and guidelines set by agencies like the National Green Tribunal and Pollution Control Board are being strictly followed, with focus on sustainable development measures such as water conservation and pollution control.
