CM Sukhu Condemns Derogatory Remarks Against Rahul Gandhi, Calls for Dignity in Political Discourse
1 min readShimla: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, in a press conference today, strongly condemned the derogatory remarks made by BJP and Shiv Sena leaders against Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha. CM Sukhu emphasized that such remarks do not contribute to a healthy democratic setup and urged the BJP High Command to rein in their leaders for making irresponsible statements.
On behalf of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, Sukhu expressed his disappointment, stating, “The unconstitutional language used against Rahul Gandhi is unacceptable.” He highlighted that Rahul Gandhi is a respected leader who, through his vision, has strengthened the Congress Party’s ideology, representing the voice of millions disillusioned by the Union Government’s authoritarian policies.
Sukhu criticized BJP’s Ravneet Bittu, pointing out his change in stance towards Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of abandoning moral values for personal political gains. The CM stressed the importance of maintaining dignity in political discourse and condemned the use of un-parliamentary language.
Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, aimed at promoting peace and harmony, has evidently unsettled BJP leaders, claimed Sukhu, adding that Gandhi’s growing popularity has led to such baseless attacks. He concluded by reminding the nation of the sacrifices made by Rahul Gandhi’s family for the country’s integrity and peace.
