Dehra: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu led a vigorous campaign for his wife and Congress candidate, Kamlesh Thakur, in Dehra on Thursday. He addressed gatherings in Tripal, Darkata, Dohag Paloti, Naushera, Paisa, Siyoti Khurd, Mayoli, Bankhandi, Sher Lohara, and Ghed Mangarh.

Sukhu stated that solving Dehra’s problems is now his responsibility, as Dehra has become his constituency. He criticized BJP leaders for making misleading statements and held them responsible for the by-elections. He accused former independent MLA Hoshiar Singh of resigning due to a deal with the BJP, leading to the by-election. Sukhu claimed that Hoshiar Singh used public funds for personal projects, like building a resort, instead of developing the constituency.

Highlighting Congress’s achievements, Sukhu mentioned the fulfillment of promises such as the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for employees and a monthly honorarium of Rs. 1500 for women. He assured that the state government is committed to Dehra’s development, with no shortage of funds, and that an international-level zoo worth Rs. 650 crore is being constructed in Bankhandi, creating employment for 2000 locals.

Former Minister Asha Kumari also campaigned, urging voters not to repeat past mistakes and to support Hardeep Singh Baba. She emphasized Congress’s strong standing in the state and the commitment to public welfare projects.
