Distributes Relief Supplies in Shillibagi, Thanutta & Kelti, Expresses Gratitude to Donors
Mandi, 13 July 2025:
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur visited disaster-affected areas of Shillibagi, Thanutta, and Kelti today to meet victims and assess the situation. In Shillibagi, he met the family of two deceased individuals who lost their lives due to a landslide. Several homes, fields, and livestock have also been swept away in the calamity.
Thakur offered condolences and urged people to stay strong, assuring that what has been lost will be rebuilt. He emphasized staying in safe locations until the weather improves.
Addressing public health concerns, Thakur appealed to residents to boil drinking water, citing destruction of water supply schemes and a rise in water-borne diseases due to contaminated sources. “Reaching hospitals is difficult due to blocked roads, so prevention is crucial. My own family is drinking boiled water,” he said.
He also praised the generous contributions from individuals and organizations, saying such service is “true devotion to humanity.” Many volunteers have delivered relief materials multiple times, ensuring aid reached every affected household. Thakur extended heartfelt thanks to all who have stood with the victims during this crisis.
