CM inspects sites for opening various offices in Dehra Assembly segment

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited the Dehra Assembly Constituency today to inspect land sites for various offices and development projects. He instructed the district administration to speed up the identification of suitable land for the newly planned Superintendent of Police office and other offices in Dehra.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected the ongoing construction of the fire station, SDM office, hospital, sericulture office and Government Senior Secondary Schools for boys and girls at Dehra. He also interacted with students of the school and directed the teachers to keep them informed about current events or happenings in the state and the country regularly vis-à-vis raising concern over lack of general knowledge.
The quality of education in the State needs to be improved and the present government was taking several steps to upgrade the educational standards ensuring youth to be well-prepared to face future challenges, he said. He also announced that a new building for Dehra College would be constructed with rupees seven crore allocated for completing the ongoing building project in the area.
The Chief Minister also emphasized exploring new opportunities to boost tourism in Dehra and nearby constituencies. He announced that ‘Dehra Utsav’ would be celebrated by the end of this year to promote local culture and attract tourists. He also directed the authorities to lay underground electricity cables in Dehra and Jawalamukhi, assuring that adequate funds would be provided for this project.
Sh. Sukhu also held a meeting with district officers to review the progress of development projects in the district on Thursday evening. He instructed the HPSEBL to conduct a survey addressing electricity issues in Dehra, considering the growing infrastructure needs for upcoming projects like the Central University Campus and an International-level zoo. He assured that the State Government would ensure the timely completion of these projects without financial constraints.
He also directed the improvement of road connectivity and water supply in the Dehra area. He asked officers to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for drinking water schemes in Muhal, Khabli, Shivnath, Dhawala, Rainta, Kariyada, and nearby villages. Similar reports should be prepared for Bilaspur, Guler, Nandpur, and Ludret areas of the Dehra constituency. He ordered the construction of additional water tanks to tackle water scarcity and announced the installation of UV filter systems in the drinking water schemes.
The Chief Minister said that new bus stands would be constructed at Khundiyan in Jawalamukhi and Dadasiba in the Jaswan Paragpur area to improve commuter facilities. An integrated sports stadium would be constructed for Dehra to encourage youth participation in sports thereby keeping them away from drug abuse, he added.
The State Government would also explore the possibilities of creating a Public Works Department’s division at Dadasiba and sub-division at Kotla in Jaswan Paragpur area and division of HPSEBL at Jaswan Pragpur. He said that Dadasiba to Terrace, Bassi to Dadasiba and Kunha to Lower Suneht roads would be improved. Possibilities for opening a DSP office at Dadasiba and upgrading Terrace Police Post to Police Station would also be explored.
