CM directs to focus on digitization of the data and employ modern technology in Labour and Employment department

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Labour and Employment Department to focus on digitization of the data and adopt modern technology to streamline the operations of the department. While reviewing the functioning of the department, he said that all the operations of the department must be digitized and data of skilled persons in various fields must be available online. He directed the department to implement this initiative immediately as this will be helpful in offering employment and self-employment opportunities to the interested persons.
Sh. Sukhu said that, during last two years of the present State Government, 39220 employment jobs were provided to the youth out of which 13704 jobs were given in the government sector alone. He said that recruitment process was also going on to fill up the vacant posts in various departments. The present State Government has rolled down Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-Up Yojna to offer self-employment to the youth of the State and so far 121 candidates had been recommended by the Transport Department to grant subsidy for the purchase of e-taxis. He said that these e-taxis would be attached with the government departments and assured income would be provided to the e-taxi owners.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government was also considering providing 200 e-taxi permits in the first phase and a comprehensive scheme would be launched shortly. These initiatives were aimed at conserving the environment of the State and reducing carbon footprints, aligning with the State’s goal of sustainable development. He said that tourism was the mainstay in the economy of the State and environment conservation was vital to promote tourism in the State as people from all over the world pay visits to Himachal Pradesh to explore the stunning landscapes and natural beauty.
Sh. Sukhu said that the State Government was also mulling to offer overseas employment opportunities to the skilled manpower. To enhance job placements, the State Government was taking steps to improve the skills of the youth so that they could get job opportunities in the foreign countries. The State Government has signed a MoU with Dubai based company EFS Facility Service and five youths of the State have been provided with employment opportunities in Saudi Arabia. He directed the officers of the department to monitor and ensure the well being of the candidates working abroad.
Secretary Labour and Employment Priyanka Basu Ingty, Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Commissioner Labour and Employment Virender Sharma and other senior officers of the department attended the meeting.
