CM Convenes Emergency Meeting to Address Disaster Situation

Shimla, Aug 1, 2024 — Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu held an emergency meeting to review the aftermath of five cloud bursts and heavy rains across Himachal Pradesh. Reports indicate severe damage in Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts, with over 50 people missing and two confirmed dead. The Samej area of Jhakri in Shimla is among the most affected, with 36 individuals missing. Immediate relief efforts and rescue operations are underway. The state government plans to use transport drones and satellite phones to aid in the response. The Chief Minister has appealed for Central Government assistance and urged residents to take precautionary measures amid ongoing heavy rains.
