Shimla, October 25, 2025 — Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap informed that the 80th round of the National Sample Survey (NSS) is being conducted across Shimla district from July 2025 to June 2026. The survey, undertaken by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, aims to collect crucial socio-economic data to support policymaking and research.

This year’s survey focuses on Domestic Tourism Expenditure (DTES), gathering details on travel purposes, types, accommodation patterns, destinations, and travel expenses. The collected data will assist the Ministry of Tourism in preparing the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) and the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTOI).

Trained field investigators and supervisors from the District Statistics Office, Shimla, will visit selected villages and wards using digital applications for data collection. They will carry official ID cards and authorization letters.

DC Kashyap appealed to all citizens to provide accurate and truthful information to ensure the success of the survey. He assured that all data will remain strictly confidential and used solely for statistical purposes, contributing to Himachal Pradesh’s development.

For queries or clarifications, citizens can contact the District Statistical Officer at 0177-2623576 or dsosml@gmail.com.
