Chirgaon Daughters Shine at First Thailand Kickboxing World Cup

Daughters of Chirgaon, district Shimla, brought laurels to Himachal Pradesh and India by winning medals at the First Thailand Kickboxing World Cup held in Bangkok from April 7 to 12, 2025. Dikshita Shilal clinched a silver medal while Sanika Laltwan bagged a bronze in the international event.
Both athletes met Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, who felicitated them for their achievements. He praised them for not only making their region proud but also serving as an inspiration to other youth. Kashyap emphasized the importance of sports in keeping youth away from drug abuse and assured full support to the players. The administration will also involve them in anti-drug campaigns.
Sanika Laltwan, daughter of Shamsher Singh from village Sandhari, started with Wushu in 2016, later mastering Taekwondo and Kickboxing. She won medals at several district, state, and national-level tournaments, including a gold medal in Khelo India 2023 and a gold at the International Kickboxing Championship 2025 in Delhi.
Dikshita Shilal, daughter of the late Keshav Ram Chauhan from village Diswani, also boasts a decorated career with medals at district, state, and national levels. In 2025, she became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal and belt in a Kickboxing Gala Fight.
The two athletes have also started the *Himalayan Warrior Martial Arts Academy* in Chirgaon to promote sports among school children and combat drug abuse in the region. They credited their success to their parents, coach Virendra Jagita, and Dr. Sanjay Yadav.
