Chief Minister Sukhu Criticizes BJP and Appeals for Votes in Bilaspur
2 min readBilaspur: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while campaigning for Congress candidate Satpal Raizada, urged voters to support him in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that, unlike former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, who he claims is dreaming of a return to power, the current Congress government is committed to serving a full five-year term with the blessings of the people and divine support. He mocked Thakur’s newly tailored black coat, implying it will remain unused as Congress will retain power.
Sukhu accused certain BJP legislators of betraying their party and the electorate, saying they were involved in plots to topple the government and couldn’t even face their families. He argued that the BJP’s attempts to use money and power have failed, referencing the unsuccessful “Rivaj Badlega” and “Operation Lotus” campaigns and predicting a similar fate for the “Kangana Mandi ke Angana” initiative.
Highlighting his government’s achievements, Sukhu mentioned the fight against the Adani Group to ensure fair rates for truck operators and the end of the NOC requirement for using BBMB water. He noted the implementation of the old pension scheme for 1.36 lakh employees, contrasting it with the BJP’s actions in Rajasthan, and criticized the central government’s lack of support during the recent natural disaster in Himachal Pradesh.
Sukhu also announced various social welfare initiatives, including the Sukh Ashray Scheme for 4000 children, free education for the children of widows, free medical treatment for seniors over 70, and the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Scheme to support women with a monthly pension of ₹1500. He accused the BJP of being anti-women, citing their attempts to stop these benefits.
The Chief Minister concluded by urging voters to reject the BJP’s politics of bribery and vote for Congress on June 1st. Health Minister Colonel Dhani Ram Shandil, former Minister Ram Lal Thakur, Lok Sabha candidate Satpal Raizada, former MLA Bamber Thakur, Babu Ram Gautam, Pradesh Congress General Secretary Vikas Thakur, District Congress President Anjana Dhiman, Block Congress President Amarjit Banga, Lok Sabha area’s Chief Spokesperson Sandeep Sankhyan, and District Coordinator Vidyasagar and Kamalendra Kashyap were also present at the rally.
