Former Union Minister and current MP from Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur, criticized the present government for shutting down welfare institutions opened by the previous Jayaram government. He accused the government of being anti-development, stating that even his in-laws’ place hasn’t been spared. Thakur alleged that Chief Minister Sukhu will go down in history as the first CM to neglect not only BJP legislators but also those from Congress. He highlighted how ministers had to seek the CM’s permission for their assembly work, whereas opposition legislators faced harassment. Thakur also emphasized that he and fellow candidate Hoshiyar Singh have been instrumental in pushing development initiatives like the Central University project in Dehra, which was approved during the BJP government’s tenure. He criticized the Congress for stalling development projects and making empty promises, citing their failure to deliver on a pledge of Rs. 1500 monthly to women. Thakur concluded by expressing confidence that the people would show the exit route to the unrestrained individual from power after 2 years of the BJP government. He noted that the doubled budget of Rs. 500 crore for the project would aid in enhancing its facilities and opportunities.
