Chetan Bragta Urges HP Govt to Reconsider Clashing HAS and UGC-NET Exam Dates

Shimla, June 20, 2025 — BJP leader Chetan Bragta has strongly urged the Himachal Pradesh government and the HP Public Service Commission (HPPSC) to reconsider the scheduling of the HAS Preliminary Examination and the UGC-NET, both of which are slated for June 29, 2025. The clash of dates has caused deep concern among aspirants, many of whom are eligible for both competitive examinations.

Bragta criticized the authorities for what he termed as administrative insensitivity, stating that such scheduling creates unnecessary anxiety, confusion, and mental distress among thousands of students. “This is not just a logistical oversight — it’s a direct blow to the hard work and aspirations of the youth,” he said.

He raised several pressing questions: Were the authorities unaware of the significant overlap in student eligibility for both exams? Should logistical convenience be prioritized over students’ futures? Is it fair to force students to choose between two important career-defining opportunities?

Bragta demanded immediate action:

1. The government and HPPSC must take serious note of the date clash.
2. One of the two examinations should be rescheduled.
3. Students’ mental well-being and career prospects must be given top priority.

He emphasized that today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders and deserve thoughtful, student-friendly decisions — not bureaucratic confusion.
