Chamba Hosts 5th District Cooperative Development Committee Meeting

The 5th meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee was held at Chamba under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal. He emphasized linking Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) with Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) to strengthen rural development.

Repaswal informed that PACS are now eligible to function as water committees for managing and maintaining rural drinking water schemes. He added that this step will enhance efficiency in water management and create new job opportunities.

The meeting also discussed PACS computerization, formation of multipurpose societies, dairy and fisheries promotion, functioning as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendras, food grain storage programs, Jan Aushadhi centers, LPG distribution, and fuel retail operations.
