Chamba: Fire Ravages Homes and Cowsheds in Khanei Village

In the village of Khanei in the Salooni development block of Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, three makeshift houses and three cowsheds suddenly caught fire. Kuldeep Singh (51), son of Ram Krishna, a resident of Khanei, was injured while rescuing cattle from the cowshed. He was initially treated at the Civil Hospital in Kihar and then referred to Chamba Medical College.

According to police information, the fire broke out in three makeshift houses and three cowsheds around 7:30 AM on Saturday. As a result, the houses and cowsheds were reduced to ashes. Fortunately, the families residing in these houses and the cattle in the cowsheds were safely evacuated. However, one person was injured while evacuating the cattle.

The police have reported that the causes of the fire in the houses and cowsheds of Uttam Singh, Rajinder Singh, and Kuldeep Singh in Khanei village have not been determined yet. As soon as the incident was reported, a police team also arrived at the scene. During this time, a person who was injured while trying to safely evacuate the cattle was taken to Kihar Hospital, where he received initial treatment before being referred to Chamba.

Meanwhile, Salooni Tehsildar Vinod Kumar Tandon stated that the person injured in the fire was provided with immediate assistance of Rs. 5,000 by the administration. The revenue department’s team is assessing the damage caused by the fire, and based on their assessment, financial assistance will be provided to the affected families.
