Census is not just count of population, but important administrative process: Deputy Commissioner

Training of district level officers started for the first phase of census.
Dharamshala, March 10: A three-day training for district-level officials for the first phase of the Census of India 2027 – house listing and house enumeration – began yesterday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kangra. Addressing the program, the Deputy Commissioner and Chief Census Officer said that the census is not just a population count, but a key administrative process, a cornerstone of nation-building, where systematic and authentic data is collected. If the data is incomplete and inaccurate, the goals of development plans will be affected.
He urged all the present officers to complete the assigned tasks as per the stipulated time limit and wished all the present officers and trainees for the successful organization of this program.
Under the first phase in Himachal Pradesh, the work of house listing and house enumeration will be conducted from May 12, 2026 to June 10, 2026. The training was given by the officers of Census Directorate, Assistant Director Anil Kumar, Ashish Rastogi and Rajesh Kumar. During the training, along with various aspects of the census, its legal provisions were also made known. Detailed information was given about the questions to be asked during the census. Special training was given on the mobile app specially developed for the census to be conducted in digital mode and its practical practice was conducted.
