Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur praised the Union Budget presented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it a comprehensive roadmap towards a developed and self-reliant India. Speaking after listening to the live budget presentation at the BJP office in Shimla, Thakur highlighted major investments in infrastructure, technology, healthcare and eco-tourism as key drivers of economic growth, especially for hill states like Himachal Pradesh.
He welcomed the focus on eco-tourism projects such as mountain trails, record infrastructure spending, tax relief for the middle class, support for women through initiatives like Lakhpati Didi, and incentives for MSMEs and the handloom sector. Thakur said the budget balances development with heritage, boosts rural economy, strengthens disaster resilience, and opens new employment opportunities for youth in the state.
