The Platform Theater Group’s rendition of “Hum nai Sudhrenge ” , the satirical tale from SN Joshi’s “chatha Mez or Sixth Table,” paid a fitting tribute to the local senior theater artist from the LAC Department. Set against the backdrop of the languid work culture in government offices, the play unfolded with a perfect blend of humor and critique. The actors, putting their best foot forward, skillfully brought to life the slow-working employee archetype, leaving the audience in stitches with their pun-laden performances.
Each actor demonstrated commendable prowess, infusing the narrative with their unique flair. The audience found themselves immersed in laughter, captivated by the situational comedy created by the actors. The success of the production reverberated through the hall, with the echo of applause emphasizing the impact of their collective efforts.
The words of SN Joshi, the story’s creator, resonated deeply as he declared, “Hamlet was killed once by Shakespeare, but Hamlet killed Shakespeare numerous times.” This statement echoed the justified execution of the narrative, even with directorial add-ons from Ajay Gara. The play, a satire on the bureaucratic inertia within government offices, not only entertained but also served as a mirror reflecting the realities of workplace dynamics.
Despite the evident talent of the actors, the review takes a poignant turn by shedding light on the challenges faced during in-house productions, particularly the GDS. The subtle suggestion that the freedom to perform may be constrained by directors is thought-provoking. It emphasizes the delicate balance required between directorial guidance and actor autonomy to truly bring out the best in each performance.
In conclusion, the actors’ stellar performances in “Hum nai Sudhrenge” based on “Chatha Mez” showcased their undeniable talent, proving that the limitations lie not in their abilities but, at times, in the constraints of directorial choices. The laughter-inducing and thought-provoking play undoubtedly left a lasting impression, leaving the audience eagerly anticipating more productions from the Platform Theater Group.
