Bomb Threats Trigger Security Sweep at Himachal Medical Colleges Amid PM Modi’s Visit

Mandi/Chamba, September 9, 2025: A bomb threat email sent to Nerchowk’s Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College & Hospital in Mandi sparked panic on the day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. The mail claimed that three bombs were planted inside the campus. Authorities quickly evacuated the hospital, while bomb disposal squads and dog units conducted thorough searches.

Police later clarified that the threat mail was not specifically intended for Nerchowk Medical College but was mistakenly received by its management and police. Meanwhile, Chamba Medical College also received a similar bomb threat, prompting another round of search operations. Security has been tightened across the state in light of the Prime Minister’s tour.
