A one-day blood donation camp was organized on Tuesday in the APG Shimla University campus under the joint aegis of School of Pharmacy, Blood Unit of Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla and Saksham Bharti Foundation. The blood donation camp was inaugurated by APG Shimla University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rajendra Singh Chauhan. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rajendra Singh Chauhan called upon the university’s young students, employees, professors and people to be aware and encouraged to donate blood. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Chauhan said that blood donation is not only a great donation but also a means of giving life to the needy. “In the hustle-bustle of life, the blood donated by blood donors can become a lifesaver for someone in case of any accident or serious illness. This is a sacred act of saving lives”, said Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Singh Chauhan. During this camp, APG Shimla University’s Registrar Dr. Ankit Thakur, Dean Academics Prof. Dr. Anandmohan Sharma, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Neelam Sharma, Head of Department of Pharmacy Assistant Prof. Lalit Kumar, chairpersons and faculty members of other departments reached the blood donation camp and met the blood donors and thanked them for this great donation. APG Shimla University’s Vice -Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rajendra Singh Chauhan also gave the message of blood donation on this occasion. This program ran from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and interested students, teachers, employees and local residents of APG Shimla University participated in donating blood and girl students also showed awareness in blood donation. In the blood donation camp, Dr. Payal Vij and her support team from Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla gave their valuable support in successfully getting blood donated by the blood donors in the blood donation camp. In this blood donation camp, Dr. Payal Vij checked the blood group of the blood donors and got them to donate blood and 60 units of blood collected in the blood donation camp. Dr. Payal said that blood donation by healthy people is considered to improve heart health, reduce the risk of heart diseases and stroke. Excess iron in the blood can increase the risk of heart attack. Regular blood donation controls the excess iron. Which is good for heart health.
Vice-Chancellor of APG Shimla University Prof. Dr. Rajendra Singh Chauhan said that many times the amount of blood in the body of patients becomes so low that they need to take blood from someone else. In such an emergency situation, people should come forward to donate blood for blood supply. This will help the needy. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Chauhan said that there is no greater donation than blood donation because it helps in saving the lives of needy and blood-deficient people and this is also humanity. Prof. Chauhan appreciated the efforts of APG Shimla University’s School of Pharmacy, Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla and Saksham Bharti Foundation for organizing the blood donation camp and thanked all the blood donors for their invaluable contribution. Vice -Chancellor Prof. Chauhan said that APG Shimla University administration has been regularly organizing free medical camps for the medical benefit of its students, employees and local residents and needy for human service and has already organized many blood donation camps and vaccination campaigns during the Covid period and will continue to organize such blood donation camps from time to time in future as well. Vice -Chancellor Prof. Chauhan added that in the first week of the coming month of April, a mega health check-up camp is going to be organized for all the students, professors, employees and residents of local Panthaghati, Beolia and Kwara villages.
