Courtesy of local APG Shimla University, a blood donation camp was organized at Ridge Maidan Shimla here on Monday in which students, teachers of APG Shimla University and blood donors donated blood voluntarily, and sixty one unit blood collected. During this blood donation campaign, Himachal Pradesh Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj participated as the chief guest and highlighted the importance of blood donation. Mayor of Municipal Corporation Shimla Satya Kaundal and deputy mayor Shailendra Chauhan were also special guests during this campaign. During this campaign, Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, while talking to the media, said that blood donation is a great donation and saving someone’s life is the biggest charity and charity work in the world. “When someone falls ill or suffers from accident, then there is possibility of need for blood to save him or her, if the need of blood is fulfilled at that time then life can be saved, so donating blood is called ‘Mahadan'”, said Suresh Bhardwaj. He said that Himachal Pradesh holds a leading position in the whole country in voluntary blood donation as blood is collected on the basis of voluntary blood donation in Himachal and there is no system of purchase and sale of any kind of blood.It is said that if someone donates blood to save someone’s life, then there is no physical weakness or weakness in him or her. Suresh Bhardwaj said that many times people spread misconceptions that donating blood leads to weakness, but in reality blood donation leads to purification and then within three months the donor becomes capable to donate blood again. In this context, Bhardwaj said that there are blood donors in Shimla who have donated blood more than a hundred times. He said that the misconceptions regarding blood donation are present especially in the rural areas, which the media can dispel. Suresh Bhardwaj said that donating blood does not bring any weakness, but it is an act of virtue. Suresh Bhardwaj congratulated the university administration, staff, students, teachers of APG varsity for this blood donation campaign organized by APG Shimla University and Vice Chancellor of APG Shimla University, Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan. Suresh Bhardwaj congratulated vice-chancellor Dr. Ramesh Chauhan and introduced him to the media and said that Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan is also a friend since college days and is always interested to work in the interest of society. On the other hand, Suresh Bhardwaj thanked senior and well-known journalist Dr. Ashwani Sharma, who is associated with the journalism department of APG Shimla University as visiting faculty, for making this blood donation campaign a success. Balram Jha, registrar, APG Shimla University, executive Officers, chairpersons of different department, deans, directors were also present during this campaign.
