Shimla: A three-member fact-finding committee, set up by the BJP to investigate the alleged illegal deforestation in the Bahri village of Dharampur constituency, Mandi district, will visit the site on December 29. The committee includes Satpal Satti (chairman), Sukhram Chaudhary, and Balbir Verma as members.

The committee was constituted on December 24, 2024, following reports of large-scale illegal felling of trees for firewood in the Bahri area. According to BJP’s state president, the committee has been tasked with collecting factual data and submitting its findings within 10 days.

Satpal Satti stated that the committee would begin its investigation at 10 a.m. from the BJP office in Dharampur and later visit the affected site for a thorough inspection. Satti urged locals to share any evidence or suggestions related to the matter. Preliminary reports suggest that the felling was carried out without proper permission from the Forest Department, including prohibited trees.

The committee will also hold a press conference post-inspection to address the media regarding their findings.
